We started a very active campaign against bizutage back in 1987. Thanks to one Socialist politician, Madame Ségolène Royal (a personal friend), our Parliament passed a law banning bizutage in 1998. There are still isolated incidents. Most bizutages take place in engineers' schools, medical schools, and also in some secondary schools, and are often known as "wei", "week-ends d'intégration". We strongly advise young students, especially women, against taking part in these "wei", and we sometimes threaten to notify the French authorities, AND the media, when students' assns still plan to organize "wei".
